Player Registration

Practices & Schedule

The season runs September 28 through November 7. Teams practice twice a week, Monday through Thursday, between 5 and 9 PM at local gyms, with each session lasting one hour.

Each team also has one optional skills workout per week. Days, times, and locations are announced weekly, and an RSVP is required so we can staff accordingly.

Tournaments

All games are held on Saturdays. Exact dates may shift slightly with the head coach's schedule, and the season typically includes both Behn Events and select Zero Gravity (ZG) tournaments. Our two Behn Events are scheduled for October 17 and November 7, with three additional possible dates: October 10, 24, and 31.

Behn Events are hosted at quality local gyms with back-to-back scheduling whenever possible, experienced and certified officials, and efficient logistics built around families' time. Admission is $10 at the door.

Travel Tournament Options

Some teams may add a fourth tournament, or replace a local event with a travel tournament in Maine, New Hampshire, or Connecticut. These are typically Saturday events, with an optional overnight stay depending on the team.

Playing Time

Playing time is fair and balanced whenever possible. Players build confidence and improve through game experience, and our coaches make sure every athlete gets meaningful minutes.

Flexibility for Multi-Sport Athletes

We encourage our athletes to play multiple sports. Hurricanes basketball is meant to work around your family's schedule and goals, and no player is ever benched or penalized for missing a practice or game due to another commitment.

Player Education

We partner with outside organizations to offer players and parents learning opportunities beyond basketball. Each fall, families have access to two Zoom sessions: "Bet On You," our mental strength program, and one on nutrition, strength, and fitness.

Older Select players considering college basketball receive additional support, including recruiting guidance, college outreach, and help planning visits. Many Hurricanes have gone on to compete at the Division I, II, and III levels.
