Online Waiver — Required

Every player must have this filled out to participate. Form completion is required for participation of each individual athlete and coach involved in competition or play.

A parent or legal guardian completes the form for each athlete. Coaches and participants 18 or older may complete their own. One waiver per person — not one per team.

You will need the team name, the athlete’s name and date of birth, jersey number, and which tournament or tournaments you are entered in.

Code of Conduct

We are committed to providing a positive, competitive, and professional environment for all teams, players, coaches, referees, and spectators. Please review our tournament policies and expectations:

  1. Respectful Environment (Zero Tolerance)
All participants including coaches, players, referees and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner.
    • Be cordial and respectful towards referees, tournament staff, and opposing teams players, coaches and fans.
    • Zero tolerance for fighting, abusive language, or inappropriate behavior directed at any coach, official, parent, or player.
Any violations may result in immediate removal from the event. This will be at the discretion of the Behn Hurricanes Site Manager and the administration staff at the Behn Hurricanes.
  2. No Recruiting / Poaching (Zero Tolerance)
    • No approaching or “tapping” opposing players after games. Event staff will be actively monitoring this.
    • Respect other coaches and understand that the games are for healthy competition for the kids – not to recruit.
  3. Communication During the Event
If any issues, concerns, or questions come up during the tournament, please find the site manager to alert that person to the situation. Do not contact Jack or Sarah during the event.

Game Rules

  1. Four 8 minute quarters, 2–3 minute warm-up, one minute in between quarters, two minute half-time.
  2. TIME-OUTS: Each team gets 3 timeouts per game (45 seconds). One time-out can be used during the first half (if it isn’t used, it does NOT carry over). A team can call two time-outs maximum during the second half; any remaining time-outs will not carry over to the OT.
  3. FOULS: All shooting fouls will be 2 shots. All fouls after the 5th foul in a quarter will also be two free throws. Five fouls = disqualification. There is no 6th foul allowed. Fouls carry over from the 4th quarter for individuals and teams into the overtime, but no additional foul is granted. Grades 3 & 4 may shoot 2–3 feet under the free throw line.
  4. Technical fouls will be 2 shots plus possession of the ball. 2 technical fouls given to the same player or coach will result in ejection from the game and tournament.
  5. OVER-TIME: The first over-time is 2 minutes, stopped time. NO additional time-out will be given (or fouls granted). If the game is still tied at the end of the 2-minute overtime, the second overtime is sudden death, meaning the first team to score a field goal or a free throw.
  6. TEAM DEFENSE — pressing & zone rules and suggestions Grades 3 & 4: No full court pressing until the last 2 minutes of game and no zone defense. Grades 5 & 6: No pressing until the last 2 mins of half; pressing is allowed in the second half and zone defense is not recommended. Grades 7 – Varsity: Pressing is allowed for the entire game and zone defense is allowed (but discouraged!).
  7. PRESSING IS NOT ALLOWED WHEN UP BY 20 POINTS at any point during the game, in the first or second half.
  8. Running clock will be used in the second half ONLY if one team is up by 20 plus points and it is needed to keep the master schedule on time.
  9. Jump balls will alternate possession, to be kept by the officials and the score table.
  10. Backcourt violation will occur if the ball isn’t advanced over the half-court line in 10 seconds.
  11. Because there is no shot clock, STALLING the ball on offense is ONLY allowed in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter.

Championship Game Advancement — Tiebreaker Rules

  1. Points Allowed — The team that allowed fewer points advances. Fewer points given up wins the tiebreaker.
  2. Point Differential — If still tied, the team with the higher point differential (points scored minus points allowed) advances.
